Stunningly crafted from clay, recycled glass and paint these wonderful plates look great placed on any table or counter-top around the home or office. Not only are they interesting conversational pieces, they are also very functional as well and can be used for a number of purposes. Many individuals place candles inside the plates, while others lay a serviettes within them and put dry food items such as chips and popcorn inside.

Each piece of glass is painted on the underside and then cut by hand and placed piece by piece into the wet clay. Once the glass is effectively tiled into the clay, the whole plate is placed in a kiln to bake the clay.

The mosaic plates come in a variety of colors and during the daytime they 'gleen' in the sunshine similar to that of the bottom of a swimming pool. At night time, when artificial light is above the plates, the tiled glass shines onto the ceiling creating a star effect.

These items are hand made on the island of Bali and the artist who makes them is paid directly by Real Fair Trade.
