Stunningly crafted from clay, recycled glass and paint this wonderful plate looks great placed on any table or counter-top around the home or office. Not only is this plate an interesting conversational piece, it is also very functional as well and can be used for a number of purposes. Many individuals place candles inside the plate, while others lay a serviette within it and put dry food items such as chips and popcorn inside.

Each piece of glass is painted on the underside and then cut by hand and placed piece by piece into the wet clay. Once the glass is effectively tiled into the clay, the whole plate is placed in a kiln to bake the clay.

The mosaic plates come in a variety of colors and during the daytime they 'gleen' in the sunshine similar to that of the bottom of a swimming pool. At night time, when artificial light is above the plate, the tiled glass shines onto the ceiling creating a star effect.

This item is hand made on the island of Bali and the artist who makes this is paid directly by Real Fair Trade.
